Yes, you can study for the Graduate Certificate of Computer Science even if you don’t have a qualification in computer science or a related discipline. This course provides foundational knowledge in the core principles of computer science, giving you strong technical skills that are sought after by employers across a range of sectors.

You’ll graduate equipped with technical skills in Java or python programming, algorithm development, databases, and architecture and networks. Plus, you can choose from one of three electives to tailor your study in the areas of software engineering, cybersecurity, or artificial intelligence, based on your career goals.

An Australian bachelor degree or equivalent qualification approved by the faculty or a minimum of three years relevant work experience in IT.

For the Graduate Certificate of Computer Science, the estimated cost is $5,200 per unit*. You may be eligible to receive a FEE-HELP loan to cover part or all of your tuition. Fees are subject to change annually.

Your pathway to a master’s degree

Graduate with a Graduate Certificate of Computer Science in approximately 0.7 years part-time accelerated, after completing 4 units (24 credit points total).

Graduate with a Graduate Diploma of Computer Science in approximately 1.4 years part-time accelerated, after completing 8 units (48 credit points total).

Graduate with a Master of Computer Science in approximately 2 years part-time accelerated, by continuing after the Graduate Diploma and completing 12 units (72 credit points total).

You can learn the object orientated programming concepts that game developers use to code games. You can then learn advanced game development when you go on to study the Master of Computer Science specialising in Software Engineering.
